It gave its name to our country, but the cedar covers fewer forests than the pine, which is at the heart of the “Echoes of Existence” exhibition. The umbrella pine populates a vast part of the Mediterranean basin and serves as a link between a largely threatened natural environment in the region. It is this pine that brings the works of Italian artist Enzo Cucchi and Lebanese-Italian artist Gilbert Halaby into dialogue at the Nuhad es-Said Pavilion of the National Museum of Beirut. A project born from a series of fortunate coincidences, where memory, landscape, art history, and environmental concerns intersect.
